The aim of this study is to determine how the provision of visualized climate change data affects the public's perceptions and anxiety regarding climate change. Specifically, 2000 citizens in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, aged 20–69 were randomly selected and provided with information in a general graphical format (control group) and visualized data (experimental group) by mail. Pre- and post-survey results showed no statistically significant changes in their perceptions and anxiety regarding climate change in the control group (n = 131), while a significant increase in their perceptions of climate change in the experimental group (n = 132). The binomial logistic regression analysis was conducted with the changes in perception of the current climate as the dependent variable, and evaluation of information provision and demographic attributes of respondents as the independent variables. Our findings show that familiarity with the design and readability of text were important for changing the perception of climate change.

This study aimed to determine, using internet questionnaire survey, the impact of emotional factors such as place attachment to Tokyo Bay and climate change anxiety in local residents' efforts to take climate change mitigation and adaptation actions in Tokyo Bay’s coastal areas; this region is susceptible to storm surges and other climate change impacts. An Internet survey of 864 adults (men and women) aged 18–69, living in the Tokyo Bay coastal area revealed that higher place attachment and state anxiety led to more climate actions. However, the magnitude of their effects varied according to climate action. Place attachment was considered to be more influential than state anxiety in adaptation and long-term mitigating behaviors, whereas state anxiety and place attachment were considered to be equally influential in current mitigating behaviors. Characteristic anxiety was not significantly associated with climate change.

The purpose of this paper is to clarify how the maturity of the class is manifested and established by the parties involved. In this paper, I focus on the greeting scene at the beginning of class and use the concept of "maturity" to capture the transformation of the class. Studies that generalizes the ideal state of the class or that reveals the state of the classroom group through quantification cannot approach the reality in which teachers and students live. Therefore, this paper approached the reality as constructed by teachers and students by staying in close contact with the class for a long period of time by the parties in the class by using the narratives used in the class as the object of study.
As a result of this analysis, the following things become clear: (1) The maturity of the class does not necessarily require the transformation of all students, but is manifested by narratives. (2) By changing the task, we pretend to have completed the previous task, and building on that is the maturity of the class. The maturity needs to be manifested by narratives, but the maturity is not achieved by merely being composed. Students need to respond to the teachers' narratives to improve reality of the situation. The teacher then reconstructs the improved reality with a new narrative, accomplishes an aspect of classroom maturity, and moves on to the next task. The maturation process of the class is for the teacher to create a virtuous cycle of narratives and reality together of the situation with the students.

In this study, to analyze the factors behind the attitudes of Japanese people toward social inequality, we measured a sense of micro-fairness and perceived income inequality in both Japanese society and a local area and examined the relationship between them and social attributes. Although a result of analyzing data obtained from 2,400 people in their 20s to 70s living in Kanagawa Prefecture through internet surveys showed that high-income earners had a stronger sense of micro-fairness and less perception of income inequality in both Japanese society and their local areas, it became clear that their subjective judgments of socioeconomic situations explained these relationships. On the other hand, the effects of age and some occupational status on perceived income inequality in Japanese society were not observed in perceived income inequality in a local area. Moreover, residents of cities other than Yokohama and Kawasaki have a weaker sense of micro-fairness in Japanese society than residents of the two cities, but there was no difference in a sense of micro-fairness in a local area. These results suggest that the generation mechanisms of micro-fairness and perceived income inequality differ between Japanese society and a local area.

Despite the lack of domestic studies investigating climate anxiety and its related components, this research aimed to explore the prevalence and determinants of climate anxiety among the general populace in Japan. A questionnaire survey was administered, focusing on various aspects of climate anxiety, with an analysis conducted on the correlations between the present state of climate anxiety and its determining factors. Our findings revealed that apprehension related to societal implications and disruption of vital services was elevated, while the anxiety stemming from natural disasters as a consequence of climate change appeared relatively subdued. The study further distinguished two categories of climate anxiety, namely, "trait anxiety" and "state anxiety", which were influenced by neighborhood conditions and individual characteristics. The survey found a higher level of anxiety in those residing near steep mountainous terrains, women, households with two or more individuals, and those who primarily rely on television as their source of information, indicating their heightened levels of both chronic and situational anxiety. Furthermore, a stronger sense of chronic anxiety was reported among participants who had lived in their homes for over 20 years, compared to those who resided for less than 5 years.
